Some years ago I was in a bookstore and found a card: I'f you are going through hell, keep driving!
In middle age I have found that many of the assumptions of yesterday are simply not going to pan out. Sometimes things end up better, sometimes not. I talk to a great many people in the course of doing business and I hear the same thing over again. "Things are not turning out the way I planned" or "Things are such a mess" or "I'm in so deep, I'll never get out." I can only say this. That the situations of today both good and bad did not happen over night. They required some action. If you find yourself moving in an undesirable direction, the first thing to do is STOP MOVING. It really doesn't matter if you don't know where you want to go. The first thing to do is stop. The next thing is to assess the damage. The next thing is to repair the damage and in so doing to may even begin to reverse course.
